He is currently Honorary Professor of Economics University of Rome Tor Vergata, President of the Enea Tech and Biomedical Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of Bank of China as  Independent Director.

He was Minister of Economy and Finance of Italy, Economic Advisor of the Italian Minister of Economic Development, Full Professor of Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Rome Tor Vergata,  member of the Board of Directors of the Tor Vergata Economic Foundation,  and Director of the Centre for Economic and International Studies of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

He has been President of the Italian National School of Administration, Delegate of the Italian Government in the Governing Body of the International Labour Office (ILO), member of the Management Board of the MENA-OECD Governance Programme Training Centre, Chair of the Steering Committee of the OECD Network of Schools of Government, Vice Chair of Committee for Information, Computer and Communication Policy (ICCP) and Member of the Innovation Strategy Expert Advisory Group at OECD.
