1989 - Received Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Industrial Engineering from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, ranking first.

1990 - Received Fulbright Scholarship.

1992 - Received Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.

1992 to 1994 - Worked at a Chicago based financial consulting firm.

1994 to 2002 - Ran his family business in Ankara, Türkiye, as the Chairman.

2001 to 2019 - Founding Member of Justice and Development Party (AK Parti).

2001 to 2016 - Board Member of Justice and Development Party (AK Parti).

2002 to 2015 - Member of Parliament, three consecutive terms.

2002 to 2007 - Minister of Treasury.

2005 to 2008 - Chief Negotiator of Turkey for accession to the European Union.

2007 to 2009 - Minister of Foreign Affairs

2007 to 2015 - Member of National Security Council.

2009 to 2015 - Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Economic and Financial Affairs.

2015 to 2018 - Member of Parliament, fourth term.

2020 to now  - Founder and Leader of Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA Partisi).
