Richard Apostolik has led the world’s premiere association for risk professionals for 19 years, driving the Financial Risk Manager (FRM®) certification to become the leading financial risk program. Under Rich’s leadership, GARP has also: developed the first climate risk certificate, the Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR®); grown membership globally; developed the GARP Risk Institute and GARP Benchmarking Initiative; and convened the top global risk practitioners and regulators to tackle the biggest risk issues of the day. Before GARP, Rich was at Bankers Trust’s (Deutsche Bank) strategic ventures group and JPMorgan & Co., ran his own consulting firm, and was responsible for the start-up of SG Warburg & Co.’s North American futures and options business. He was an attorney with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and was the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s house counsel. He holds a BSBA, MBA, and JD from the University of Dayton.
