Professor Zhou Tao is a Professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Director of the Big Data Research Center, a recipient of the National Talent Program, and a member of the National Data Expert Advisory Committee. His primary research areas include complexity science and data intelligence science. He has published over 300 papers with more than 43,000 citations and an H-index of 96.

He has received numerous honors, including the 12th China Youth Science and Technology Award, the First National Innovation Award, the First Prize of Natural Science of Hubei Province, and the First Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of Sichuan Province. He has also been honored with the "Most Beautiful Young Science and Technology Worker" title conferred by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, was named one of CCTV's Top Ten Chinese Scientific and Technological Innovation Figures, is among the first batch of Outstanding Talents in Sichuan Province, is included in the first batch of National Online Education Masters, and has received the Sichuan Provincial Model Teacher of Ethics title.

He serves as a member of the Overseas Friendship Association of the Central Committee, a Standing Committee member of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Sichuan Provincial CPPCC, a Standing Committee member of the All-China Youth Federation, a member of the Decision-making Advisory Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, a Science and Technology Advisor to the Chengdu Municipal People's Government, and a member of the Digital Tibet Construction Expert Committee. Since 2014, he has been consecutively included in the Elsevier list of China's Most Influential Scientists in the World.
