Dr. Ma Weihua, former Executive Director, President, and CEO of China Merchants Bank (CMB), served concurrently as Chairman of the boards of Wing Lung Bank Limited, CIGNA & CMC Life Insurance Company Limited, and China Merchants Fund Management Co., Ltd. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics.

Dr. Ma was a Deputy to the 10th National People’s Congress (NPC) and a Member of the 11th and 12th National Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He currently holds leadership roles in multiple organizations, including:Chairman, National Fund for Technology Transfer and Commercialization (NFTTC); Chairman, China Global Philanthropy Institute; Chairman, SusallWave Digital Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.; Chairman, One Foundation.

Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Professor at top-tier Chinese universities, including Peking University and Tsinghua University. In March 2019, Dr. Ma was appointed: Chairman, SDG Financing Advisory Committee; UNDP China Special Advisor; Member, UNDP SDG Impact Steering Group (April 2019).

In July 2021, he was appointed Adviser to the Mainland China Advisory Group by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX).

Prior to joining CMB, Dr. Ma held key government positions, including: Director, Party Office of the CPC Liaoning Committee and CPC Anhui Committee; Deputy Director, General Office of the People’s Bank of China (PBC); Deputy Director, Finance and Planning Department, PBC; Governor, PBC Hainan Branch; Chief, State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) Hainan Branch.
