Tu Guangshao is the director of the Shanghai Financial Institute (SFI). Since 1991, Tu Guangshao has worked as deputy director of the Securities Trading Automated Quotations System (STAQS) of the People's Bank of China, deputy general manager of China Securities Trading System Corporation Ltd.(CSTS), director of the trading department of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, and secretary-general of the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

Since August 1997, Tu Guangshao has served as general manager of the Shanghai Stock Exchange. In July 2002, he served as Vice Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission.

He served as the Deputy Mayor of Shanghai in 2007. In July 2016, he was appointed Vice Chairman and General Manager of the Party of China Investment Corporation.
